AECT Standard 1.2 - Using
"Candidates demonstrate the ability to select and use technological resources and processes to support student learning and to enhance their pedagogy" (AECT, 2012).

Artifact 4 - Developing Learning Environment
Description
This artifact was created in the Spring of 2019 for GDIT 706 - Creating Learning Environments Using IT course with Dr. David Carbonara. We were asked to create a learning unit on content of our choice, covering two to three sessions of content using the pedagogical and technological knowledge that we learned during the course.
Reflection
In this project, I used Blendspace to create an asynchronous learning unit offered online. It is a free tool, easy to use, and students can easily access the learning materials. It also provides the opportunity for students to learn from anywhere and at any time at their own pace. The learning unit concerned the development of an understanding of information and communications technology (ICT) and its application in the educational context for students working on bachelor’s degrees in Education. I used the ADDIE Design Model to create a learning plan. I also used design thinking, Robert Gagne's Nine Conditions of Learning, and the SAMR model. These pedagogical principles and models were significant additions to the design. Their integration improved the learning design and created best practices for a more effective student-led learning environment.
In this online learning environment, the sessions provided a variety of media to address different learning preferences, including video, Google Slides, text with images, and hyperlinks to access additional online resources. I also included instructional strategies based on discussion, collaborative learning, critical thinking, and problem-solution. In addition to, I created a formative test at the end of each session to assess student performance and learning outcomes through Google Forms and Blendspace. This provided an opportunity to receive immediate feedback, potentially resulting in more learner engagement. Therefore, I believe that this artifact demonstrates my knowledge about and proficiency in AECT’s Standard 1.2 which states that “Candidates demonstrate the ability to select and use technological resources and processes to support student learning and to enhance their pedagogy.“
