Description

This artifact was created in the Spring of 2019 for GDIT 706 - Creating Learning Environments Using IT course with Dr. David Carbonara. At the end of the course, we were asked to create a learning environment about a topic of our choice, covering two to three sessions of content using the pedagogical and technological knowledge that we have learned during this course.

Reflection

In this project, I created an online learning environment focusing on developing an understanding of of Information and Communications Technology ICT and learning how to use the ICT tools in teaching Bachelor of Education students (pre-service teachers). I first assessed learner characteristics then used the ADDIE Design Model to create a learning plan. I also used design thinking, Robert Gagne's Nine Conditions of Learning, and the SAMR model. These pedagogical principles and models were a significant addition to the design of the learning environment. This project gave me the opportunity to use more of the research-based practices and helped me improve my abilities to design effective technology-based learning. In addition, the integration of such pedagogical principles and models improved the learning design and created best practices for a more effective student-led learning environment. Therefore, I believe this artifact demonstrates my proficiency in standard 3.1, which states that "Candidates create instructional design products based on learning principles and research-based best practices."
