AECT Standard 1.4 - Managing

This collaborative project was one of the learning experiences that helped me design a strategic plan for technology integration at a K-12 school. It also helped me develop a good understanding of why the integration of technology at schools is important. I worked with my partner to design a plan for technology integration. However, my role in this collaboration was to explain several of the critical issues in the plan: the legal aspects of technology and software, professional development for administration and teachers, incentives and reward systems for teachers, communication processes, equipment required for the integration of the plan, maintenance of the equipment, the integration of special needs learners, security, funding and budget, and evaluation to ensure efficient implementation.

Developing this plan helped me improve my skills in managing technology and establishing mechanisms to advance performance in order to integrate the technology effectively, and it allowed me to consider the factors that affect technology integration at a school. I also learned that a long, thoughtful process needs to take place for the successful integration of technology. All staff from the administration to curriculum designers to IT specialists need to participate in the discussion so that teachers can utilize technology with the support they need to meet the learning outcomes that the leadership team has set forth. Therefore, I believe this section of the artifact demonstrates my proficiency in AECT’s Standard 1.4 which states that "Candidates demonstrate the ability to effectively manage people, processes, physical infrastructures, and financial resources to achieve predetermined goals."
