AECT Standard 4.4 Assessing/Evaluating

"Candidates design and implement assessment and evaluation plans that align with learning goals and instructional activities." (AECT, 2012)

Grey Theme Objects
Description

This artifact was a group project created in the Spring of 2019 for Dr. Misook Heo’s GDIT 719 - Learner Computer Interaction, course. We were asked to create a lesson plan that integrates Augmented Reality (AR). In addition to integrating the AR technology, we were asked to support the lesson with educational technology, and use the 5E model.

Reflection

This collaborative project aimed to engage students in STEM learning and to allow them to explore the content using virtual objects in the AR app. My role in this collaborative work was to create a lesson plan sequence using the 5E model, learning activities, and formative and summative assessments. In designing this lesson, I created and used multiple assessment strategies that align with the learning goals and instructional activities. I used the formative assessments throughout to improve instructional practice, which included observations and worksheets with immediate feedback to students' responses. I also used interactive PowerPoint, which included questions to help the learners assess their understanding of the content with immediate feedback so that students were able to evaluate their own comprehension. I used the summative assessment to evaluate how students used the learned knowledge, skills, and attitudes from the lesson by creating the "solar system board" in groups. For this summative assessment, I used a "solar system rubric.”  Therefore, I believe this artifact demonstrates my proficiency in AECT’s Standard 4.4, which states that “Candidates design and implement assessment and evaluation plans that align with learning goals and instructional activities.”
