AECT Standard 4.3 - Reflection on Practice
"Candidates analyze and interpret data and artifacts and reflect on the effectiveness of the design, development and implementation of technology-supported instruction and learning to enhance their professional growth." (AECT, 2012)

Artifact 23 - Infographic - Augmented Reality (AR) in Education
Description
The artifact was created in the Spring of 2019 for Dr. Misook Heo’s GDIT719 - Learner Computer Interaction course. We were asked to create an infographic on Augmented Reality (AR) in education based on the learning resources we had read in the class and including information regarding the state of immersive technology, AR for STEM learning, and the current state of research in the field. For this project, I read and analyzed the required readings on AR in Education, then I created an infographic using Visme, a design platform to translate data visually into infographics.
Reflection
I chose this artifact to demonstrate my competency to analyze and interpret data and reflect on the development of instructional technology to enhance professional growth. In this infographic, I first compared Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR). Then, I reported the findings on the current state of research on AR and STEM learning, what has been done and what still needs to be investigated. In this infographic, I was able to create visuals for the data after I read and analyzed the literature on AR in education. The infographic has statistics and graphs to enable viewers to see complicated information visually from a new perspective and to enlighten them on using AR in education.
This assignment helped me expand my ability to design and create technology-supported instruction. This was my first time to create an infographic. Thus, it gave me the opportunity to use a new tool. Furthermore, this assignment increased my understanding of infographics and visual design, and it has allowed me to practice infographic design professionally. As an instructional technologist, I should be able to convert data into a visual form to convey complex ideas creatively and in an easy way to understand.
